From the New York Times bestselling author of Archer's Voice. Becoming Calder is the first part in a two-part romance series. The conclusion, Finding Eden, is available now.
There is a place in modern day America with no electricity, no plumbing, and no modern conveniences. In this place, there is no room for dreams, no space for self-expression, and no tolerance for ambition.
In this place, there is a boy with the body of a god and the heart of a warrior. He is strong and faithful and serves his family honorably. But he dares to dream of more.
In this place, there is a girl with the face of an angel and a heart full of courage. To her family, she is the vision of obedient perfection. But she dares to want that which she has been told can never be hers.Becoming Calder is the story of good versus evil, fear versus bravery, and the truth that the light of love has always found its way into even the darkest of places . . . From the beginning of time, to the end of the world.
THIS IS THE FIRST PART IN A TWO-PART SIGN OF LOVE SERIES INSPIRED BY AQUARIUS. THE SECOND PART, FINDING EDEN, IS AVAILABLE NOW. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and graphic sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
I’m not sure what I was thinking this story would be about when I first started reading the books. I didn’t read the synopsis, I had only heard that both Becoming Calder and Finding Eden were great and I was waiting for them to come out. With the start of our blog and setting up the website, I didn’t have the time I wanted at first to read the books but I finally made the time to read them and was wonderfully surprised by the story of Calder and Eden. Up until this point, I had only read Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan, which I happily read in under a day. Texting people who had read it and asking questions and them asking me where I was at in the book. I knew if these two books were anything like Archer’s Voice then I’d love them. Now I plan to go back and read all of her other books in her Sign of Love series because I love her writing style so much. She brings us such unique stories with deep emotions throughout.
Please keep an open mind about reading this story. This is not a story that you should be able to relate to. This story is set in modern day America, but far away from the comforts of the society, we know and live in. Acadia is a close-knit (cult) community of small families who have renounced modern technology in the Arizona desert. They are taught everything need to know by a self-proclaimed Prophet, promising to lead his people to eternal life in Elysium after a great flood erases life on Earth as we know it.
We meet Calder as a ten-year-old boy living in Acadia with his family whose job is to bring water from a magical spring, on the very day he sees the “blessed one” for the very first time. Orphaned and younger than Calder, Eden is brought into Acadia as the future bride of the Prophet (Hector) who will stand by his side until the great flood occurs. They are told it will happen not long after the “blessed one” and their leader are married after her eighteenth birthday. But at nine years of age, Eden is an innocent little girl with a beautiful heart, who is curious about the world around her and dreams of having a normal life where she is allowed to play with other kids in her community, finding love, and to not become the bride of the prophet. When Calder’s eyes land of the young Eden, his heart lurches for her.
When the first book ends, it leaves you sad and scrambling to read the next book. Trust me you won’t be disappointed. I’m so thankful that she released both of these books at the same time and I didn’t have to wait even a minute before I started on Finding Eden.
Where do you go when the world as you know it has been washed away along with all of those that you love? The second book shows us their heartbreak, strength, and love.
Calder has never lived outside of the modern world and must now make his way through the toughest part of his life.
Although Eden had lived in the modern world she must now do so alone. Your heart will break for both Eden and Calder as they make their journey in this new world and to each other.
This is a beautifully written, touching, and devastating at times, love story for Calder and Eden. Their love is intense, captivating, passionate, forbidden, and powerful. These two books will take you on a roller coaster with your emotions. You will even fall in love with a few of the secondary characters. Let Mia Sheridan take you on a ride that you won’t regret. One minute you’re thinking how sweet and good one or both of Calder and Eden are, and in the next, you’re in shock by some new information or something horrible happening. I can tell you I smiled, cried, and my heart raced and broke many times throughout these two books. Once I started reading them, I couldn’t put them down and when I absolutely had to set aside my kindle, I was telling everyone about the story I was reading. I hope you read and enjoy these books as much as I did.
