Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas.
The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional.
Been there, done that. She thought she knew what to expect.
What she didn’t count on was falling in love with the guy.

I love Mariana Zapata’s books! She has become one of my favorite authors with her slow burn romances and unique writing style. I want dozens more of her books to binge read.
Following Mariana on Facebook, I knew about Dear Aaron beforehand and even knowing this book would be different I knew I’d love it. This next part is a little bit of a spoiler so beware. The first half of the book is Ruby and Aaron writing back and forth to each other. This didn’t bother me in the least. I was getting to know both the characters the exact same way they were.
Then the second half! Oh, the second half! It made be fall more in love with these two great characters. The book consumed me. If I had to stop reading, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I lived it and felt every sentence in my heart. I didn’t want it to end! I want more! It’s beautiful, unique, sweet, and heartwarming.
“At first, you really were just a nice stranger. Then you were my friend, and I really did want you to be happy and do your thing,” he explained softly. “And then it changed. The next thing I knew, you were telling me about some dick kissing you and it pissed me off more than anything ever had before.”
I can’t stop smiling thinking about Ruby and Aaron. The progression of their relationship from pen pals to friends-to-lovers was beyond sweet. Their genuine reactions to each other and the amazing banter. It gave me all the feels. It was everything I could have wanted and more.
I can’t recommend this book or author enough. If you haven’t read her take a chance. You will not be disappointed.
